Architects House – Design Cues – Nawala – Sri Lanka

Minimalist in design, the house and office is located on a Land extent of 7.5Perchs (190 sq.m). Over looks a waterway across a reservation. The Office and house are separated vertically and are connected by ramps linking the staggered floors. The central atrium which is lit up from above via a glass roof, is ventilated from east and west by a series of steel grills which act as a buffer between the office and house.
The sun path allows the penetration of light, which to be controlled by the micro climate created by strategically located indigenous trees and plants .This microclimate has become a nesting ground for birds and insects. The house is fascinating to live in trough out the day with a myriad of reflections created from the water ponds, dancing on the white walls and white floors.
